Enticing consumers to purchase a physical guidebook in an age where every trail, climb, and campsite can be accessed from your phone is no easy task. I strove to design guidebooks that were unique, true to both place and author, and recognizable. I managed everything from author onboarding to Asia-based print production and distribution, as well as design direction and pagination. The books can be found in REI's and local retailers nationwide.

To stand out from the standardized guidebook industry where every book to every destination looks the same, K. Daniels empowered authors to bring their vision for how the book should look and feel. The result is books that are as much "of a place" as they are "about a place" which resonates with users and adds value to the overall experience. In addition to accurate and easy-to-use information, many of the books included essays from local figures and historians making the book less disposable, more interesting, and more worthy of being held on to for the long haul.
